As part of a broader consultation to prepare its guidelines clarifying the obligations of providers of general-purpose AI models under the AI Act, the Commission published a consultation document. This document includes section 3.3.2, which outlines the conditions under which open-source GPAI models may qualify for the exemptions from certain obligations applicable to specific open-source releases, as set out in Articles 53(2) and 54(6) of the AI Act.
