About Shannon

Shannon is a 2024 Fellow at Open Future. She is a technologist and writer from the San Francisco Bay Area, working to build technology in service of a more just society. Shannon has been working with organizations like Creative Commons to incorporate democratic input into AI, and she is researching Responsible and AI policy. Previously, Shannon was a Product Manager at Scale AI; over three years, she led projects like improving labeling for self-driving cars, building ML linting to automatically detect issues in labeling, and creating a fairer marketplace of labor for digital work.

As a Fellow, Shannon will host an Alignment Assembly with the open movement activists, creators, and organizations building and stewarding the Digital Commons to explore principles and considerations for regulating generative AI.
