Researchers, digital activists, and policymakers joined this online discussion, which explored current and potential European approaches to internet standardization.

The online event focused on a report written by Clément Perarnaud during his Open Future fellowship. The 90-minute event consisted of two main parts:

The report focuses on unpacking the European Union’s policy approach to Internet standardization. Exploring the concretization of new digital sovereignty-oriented policies, it reflects on the current EU vision for the future of the open internet, along with its inconsistencies. The publication also delineates key recommendations for national/EU policymakers to propose an alternative policy approach conducive to more openness, both at the technical and political levels.
