Nadia is a 2023 Fellow at Open Future. She is an urbanist turned technologist whose work is at the intersections of ethical tech, commons and public space, and more transparent and accountable governance.
Nadia has been working with open source software such as Decidim to forward an agenda for more ethical tech and tech for the public interest and to create accessible digital platforms – especially for digital cultural heritage. She is a founding member of Design Justice Mediterranea and the diaspora tech collective Tech Revengers. Both her work and activism include developing narratives that foment more inclusive participation, developing digital resources and tools, to researching internal practices on more participatory governance. Nadia works to forward an agenda toward justice, especially with and for queer and migrant communities.
During her fellowship, Nadia will explore questions about open and commons-based governance of AI. She will, among others, look into ways of addressing the problem of a governance vacuum for the often unexpected uses of openly licensed and public content.
